SCACD June Release

Welcome to the Susana's Custom Art and Card Design new release Blog Hop.  I'm so honored to once again be guest designing and sharing in all of the new and exciting things going on in the SCACD store.  If you're hopping along with us today and arrived here from Sandie's Blog, you're in the right place.

Today, Susana Loves Stamps releases yet another round of these FUN little pranksters the Oddly Sweet Curiosities #5.  With their universal appeal the Curiosities were just begging for another turn in the spotlight with a new release.  These little guys are the perfect way to provoke a smile or a laugh.  We're addicted, and from the popularity of the previous sets we know you will be too!!

How adorable is this dynamic duo, Great Minds?  They so remind me of the two headed monster from Sesame Street.  Hahaha!!  They were stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored with Copics.  Since they both seemed to have agreed on enjoying a cup of coffee and a donut I thought they also might like to do the morning crossword puzzle as well.  ;)  I machine stitched the designer papers from Echo Park This & That (Charming) collection.  


Susana Loves Stamps is also showcasing a fresh and new rubber stamp line, MechAnimals.  This edgy but endearing range of SteamPunk animals will lend themselves to all sorts of projects and styles and are sure to earn a place in your crafty hearts.

I am in looooove with this SteamPunk parrot, Special Delivery!!  I had an absolute BLAST coloring this guy, he has the most many amazing details.   I drew inspiration for my coloring from one my favorite summertime paper pads, Down By The Shore from Fancy Pants.  I created a bit of texture by adding some ivory mesh ribbon to mimic netting.

Now from some really exciting news....SCACD Digital is a NEW adventure for Susana and will see the revival of some past releases available in rubber and the addition of some fresh NEW fun!!  They are available now for purchase but watch out for some fun from the design team and friends to showcase the digital releases in the new future!  SCACD Digital's first collaboration is Carmen Medlin for SCACD Digital.  Carmen's range will definitely have something for everyone, from elegant to adorable and everything in-between.

Sending Happy Thoughts

As this month's SCACD (Susana's Custom Art and Card Design) guest designer, I have one more card to share with you.   This little beauty is one of the six new Fairies in the Elisabeth Bell for SCACD Fairy Dust Collection, Little Acorns, Big Dreams.  {Sigh} It was PURE delight coloring this sweet girl - I wanted MORE...lucky for me there are more darling fairies.  She was stamped using Momento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with Copics.

My card was created using designer papers from My Mind's Eye Bluebell Collection.  I added a bit of twine to a button, a few half pearls and a ribbon scrap that I found in my stash.  The image panel was popped up with foam tape for dimension.

Better Late Than Never

Today is such a special treat for me!  I've been asked to guest design for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design.  All Susana had to do when she called me up was to whisper a little somethin' somethin' about new SCACD Elisabeth Bell stamps.  She knows my weakness, how could I resist?!!?   :)   LOL  And you aren't going to be able to resist either when you see the newest Fairy Dust Collection being released today.  There are 6 sweet and sassy fairies that will make you smile and brighten your day.  Elisabeth Bell sprinkled just the right amount of cute, charm and gorgeousness onto each of these special fairies.

I honestly had the hardest time choosing which fairy to showcase today, they are just ALL so darling!!  I finally decided on this Time Flys fairy because it would make the perfect belated birthday card for a friend.  I paired it with my newest Teresa Collins Memories paper pad and SCACD Alices Clock Statement Corner die.  I LOVE this die...just look at all of the intricate detail.   The image was colored with Copics and I added some sparkle to her wings with Stardust Stickles.  I distressed the image panel as well as the designer papers edges and then sponged them with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distressing ink.  The sentiment was computer generated.

Texture with Colorless Blender

Good Morning Peeps!!

As some of you may know, I've been teaching Copic coloring classes at different stamp & scrapbook stores within Central Florida, such as the My Favorite Things Boutique (pinch me!!) and Stamp & Scrap A'Latte.  Often in my beginner classes I use this sweet image from Susana's Custom Art & Card Design called New Friends to teach how to do basic skin & hair coloring as well as how to create texture with your colorless blender.

If you'd like to give this technique a try here's some things that you need to know...

1. Color the portion of your image that you would like to have texture first.  The blender solution will have no effect on uncolored areas, however it could ruin any parts that you have already colored and did not want to have texture. It is important to keep in mind that it is a color remover!!

2. Make sure the ink on your colored image is completely dry.  This will give the texture a crisp look. 

(Oops, mine was still a little too damp!!)

3. Use the Various Ink bottle to dampen a swatch of material or fabric.  Simply dampen your desired material/fabric with the colorless bending solution and press the material onto your artwork.  You will immediately see the materials texture transferred to your image.  The keyword is “dampen”…overly saturating the material/fabric will only cause the solution to move your ink around and not transfer the texture.

My card today uses this previous Sweet Stop Sketch, as we are still using previous sketches to celebrate our 3 Year Anniversary.

Easter Wishes

Yes, yes...I know.  Valentines Day was just a few days ago and I've already designing my first Easter card!!  :)  Well, I just couldn't wait any longer to color up Tiddly Inks, Some Bunny Loves You - Wryn.   And of course I've used it together with Korin's sketch for this weeks Sweet Stop.  

You guys know how much I freak out when a sketch has a "tilted" element in it and I almost gave up trying to make this work but I'm so glad I hung in there because I LOVE the way it came out!!  XOXO  :)  I once again turned to my very favorite papers...My Mind's Eye (Lost & Found - Sunshine)which is 20% off right now at SCACD. 

This weeks sketch has a spin to it and that is to use punches or dies on your project.  Easy right!?!  :)  

I've got a little of both going on right now with a Martha Stewart Doily border punch along the bottom,  as well as a My Favorite Things Fresh Cut Grass die-namic and Cloud die-namic for my sentiment panel.  But my very favorite part of this whole card would have to be the carrot!!

This little felt carrot was created by using some embroidery floss, hot glue and My Favorite Things Banner Day Die-namic and Flower/Leaf trio die-namics.  (Yep, that's a banner die...Isn't it precious?!?!  :)  Let me know if you think I should I do a little picture tutorial on how I made it.  It's really easy!!  :)

All My Heart

Good Afternoon!!  I had such a good time last night with my blogging friend Tracy of Tracy's Stamping Corner that I forgot to schedule my post for today.  Oops!!   Eddie and I met Tracy and her husband Chris for dinner and drinks and ended up chatting until very early in the morning.  Tracy and I are always talking about how crazy similar our lives are, I swear it's like meeting yourself in a parallel universe.  LOL!!  We had a blast together and hope we get the chance to do it again soon.

For my card today, I've used another fabulous sketch from The Sweet Stop along with one of the newest released Tiddly Ink Wryn's...Heartfelt Love. Are you head over heels for Wryn like I am?!?!  Well, I happen to know that there are even more sweet Wryns to come soon so you'll want to check out Christy's Blog where you can find a new release every Tuesday.  

Since the image is digital, I created the sentiment in a text box and printed them both together.  I used some gorgeous new papers from Glitz (Pretty In Pink) which you can find at SCACD.  I embossed kraft cardstock with an embossing folder and brushed on some white ink with a stippling brush to bring the design out.  I made a sweet little bow with my Bow Easy with some beautiful Rubytoned Vintage Seambinding from the Ribbon Carousel which is a perfect match to the papers.

I am totally smitten with the sweet images exclusively designed for SCACD by Sylvia Zet.  They have the most precious little faces and often times are paired with an adorable little friend.  And today I'm thrilled to introduce to you the newest little cutie....Elania.  Isn't she darling!?!


I created a simple card so that the focus would be on the image.  I started with choosing some designer paper from Authentique (Journey) which is on sale right now for 20% off at SCACD ; and a Ossie Dots embossing folder from Craft Concept.  I then created a small rosette to place a computer generated sentiment.  Just a hint of StarDust Stickles was added to her tail and top for some fun sparkle and tiny little half pearls for bubbles.

Copic Creations -Pink

Wow, I can't believe it's been so long since I last posted.  I may not have been blogging but I have been working on some new stuff that I'll be sharing with you very soon!!

Today's the the first of the month, so that means it's time for a new Copic Creations challenge...

   I've been asked before where I like to shop for my paper... SCACD is my favorite because of the fabulous selection and not to mention that Susana is just such a sweet person!!  Susana graciously blessed the Copic Creations DT with an image from her Peeker's 2 Collection and I received the new What's in the Box Peeker.  Isn't she adorable?!?  Wouldn't this image be so cute for Christmas too?!? :)

I went with a pink and gray color scheme using DP from My Mind's Eye (Hazel) and corner rounded all the edges for a softer look.  The double bow was created with the Bow Easy.  A little sparkle was added to her headband and bow with Star Dust Stickles and a sentiment from Stampin' Up.  Last weekend while snooping through my sister's craft room, I found an entire set of unused Stampin' Up sentiments and talked her into letting me have them!!  :)  (Thanks Brandie....love you xoxox)

The beat of my heart!

Most days when I sit down to create a card I have a recipient and/or an occasion in mind and use that as my starting point.  But this time was different.  I started with an image, this week's Sweet Stop Sketch and zero inspiration.  That was until a tiny little bit of inspiration climbed into my lap and wanted to "help". As soon as my daughter Brooke saw the image I had chosen, she natural assumed I was making this card for her.  

So... this is for my darling Brookie!! 

The image that I've used is from SCACD - Day Dreaming Peeker, which I won recently during a blog hop.  (Yay Me!!)  Deciding to use only various shades of pink, I chose DP from My Minds Eye (Hazel) and machine stitched all the paper panels.  The felt roses were created using a die from My Favorites Things (mini rolled roses).  However, the felt I used was originally white that I colored with my Copics (R02 & RV34) to match.  A few of the pearls from the flourish (that were being hidden by the image) were cut and then added to the center of the roses.  The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink  - Mixed Messages, which I thought was absolutely PERFECT for my little love!!  For some girly girl sparkle, my little mixture of Shimmerz and Stickles was added to her shoes and leotard.  And last but not least, my favorite little detail...the tiny bit of pink tulle on her tutu.
