Hope your day is just ducky

Happy Birthday Jessica!!

I'm so excited to be joining a HUGE group of talented former and current TSG Trendsetters (and a few very special friends) today for a surprise Birthday Blog Hop for, Jessica Knutsen.  Jessica is my dear friend and owner of There She Goes clear stamps.  This past March, Jessica along with 7 other of my closest friends all came together to my home where I had the pleasure of hosting an EPIC girls weekend that will not soon be forgotten!!  :)

Jessica, I hope you have a fabulous birthday and a year full of love, happiness and success!!
Here is my birthday card for you, my friend!!

One of my favorite things about TSG clear stamps are the hilarious and sometimes cheeky sentiments that go along with the images.  I created my card using the Lucky Duck stamp set.  I started with a white cardstock base and designer paper from My Mind's Eye (Honey) The Sweetest Thing collection.  After using my Perfect Layers tool, I rounded the corners and did a little machine stitching.  The duck and cattail image were both stamped onto Kraft cardstock.  The duck was stamped a second time onto white cardstock, colored with Copic markers and then cut out and adhered over the stamped image on the kraft.  A bit of black and cream gingham ribbon and a button threaded with twine finish things off.

MarkerPOP & Perfect Paper Crafting Blog Hop

Hi, and welcome to the MarkerPOP! & Perfect Paper Crafting Blog Hop!

The Perfect Layers designers are teaming up with the talented designers at MarkerPOP!, the home of premium markers plus lots more.  With projects created using Perfect Layers crafting tools and awesome coloring tools from MarkerPOP.com we hope to wow you with some gorgeous creations today!

Now, let's talk prizes!

Hop along with us today and leave some blog love for our Perfect Layers Designers and the MarkerPOP! designers to be eligible to win.   We at Perfect Layers will be giving away a $50 gift certificate to the Perfect Paper Crafting store.  MarkerPOP! will be giving away  a set of Perfect Tears Tools.  Two winners will be selected randomly from comments left on the DT blogs.  You have until Saturday, May 25th to play along -  Blog Hop winners will be announced on Sunday, May 26th.

This is the card I created to give to my mom for Mother's Day.  I guess the fact that I am the mother of 4 myself and laundry is all I ever seem to do; this Whimsy Stamps image, Lemon Pepper's Laundry Day carried by MarkerPOP! just kind of spoke to me and said, "MOM!" :)  LOL

After I had finished coloring, I really didn't want anything to take away from the image.  So I opted for a CAS (clean and simple) approach.  I started with a white cardstock base and layered it with August Rose cardstock from PTI.  My mat layers were made using my Perfect Layers ruler tool.  I added a border with a Martha Steward Arch Lattice punch, a scrap of designer paper from MME Lavender, a bit of twine, a button and a scrap of canvas.

I just adored the way this turned out and had the hardest time giving it away.  But since it was going to my Mom, I knew it was going to be LOVED and cherished!!  xoxo

Celebrating YOU Today

I created this card for a friend to give to his wife for Mother's Day.  She loves brown pelicans and likes to photograph them.  The only image that came to mind was Magnolia's Pelican from their Bon Voyage Collection.  He also wanted it to not be too girly and have a nautical theme.  I started with MoJo Monday #291 sketch and cut Fishtail Flags with designer papers from Fancy Pants Down by the Shore.  I love love LOVE this paper!!  The card base is Kraft cardstock and layered with Vintage Cream.  I embossed another layer of Kraft cardstock with an Ossie Dots embossing folder.  I machine stitched all of the layers.  Then using MFT Circle Stax die-manics I created a "porthole" and added matte finished silver brads for the rivets.   A layer of pop dots was added between the outer and inner circles for depth and dimension.  I added Red Poppy Saddle stitched ribbon from PTI and tied a bow using my Bow Easy.  The pelican was fussy cut and also popped up with foam tape and placed atop a wooden post.

I started with a 8x6 base (which fits my recipe binder perfectly) of Smokey Shadow cardstock from PTI and layered with Kraft cardstock using my Perfect Layers tool.  The designer papers are from Teresa Collins - He Said She Said collection (He Said).   Boris was stamped using Memento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with Copics.  He is popped up with foam tape for dimension.  I used one of the many fun sentiments included in the recipe card stamp set with MFT Black Licorice Ink.  I then added a YNS Fishtail Banner and a Perfect Circles border die from PTI.

Go where the wind takes you

I'm playing along with our Your Next Stamps' Fun Friday challenge, and this months theme is
Spring Fling!

Nothing says Spring quite like a fun pinwheel.  :)  I started with a base of Dark Chocolate cardstock from PTI and paired it with a layer of Vintage Cream.   I then cut map paper from Teresa Collins Far and Way 6x6 paper pad with the just released YNS Pinwheel die.   I went with a masculine feel by adding leather paper that I then outlined with some postage striped twine.  I colored a white lollipop/cake pop stick with an R39 Copic marker to match the color scheme and hot-glued it to the pinwheel.   A computer generated sentiment was cut using a YNS Fishtail banner and wrapped around the stick.

Don't forget to check out the YNS blog today where you'll find tons of "SPRINGY" inspiration using this month's just released stamps and dies.  And if you haven't participated in the YNS April Release Blog Hop yet, you still have time to do so & enter for your chance to win a fabulous release prize pack.

Picture Perfect Birthday

When I saw Alicia's Challenge blog, Anything Goes themed challenge I thought it would be the perfect time to play along and color up this fun Photographer digital stamp.

I colored her with Copics and then cut her out to pop out of this fun Your Next Stamp Insta-Love Polaroid Die.  I added a bit of Pewter glitter to the inside of the Cute Camera Accent die from MFT.   I added a computer generated sentiment to the MFT File Tab Die using some free fonts (Architect and Talking to the Moon).  The designer papers from MME Lost & Found Ruby and after using the Perfect Layers tool to create the mats I machine stitched the panels.

Skin: E13, E11, E00, E50 (cheeks E93)

I told you yesterday that I was lovin' the new YNS Fast Food Dies....this is the new Soda die.  Isn't it adorable?!?!  (Pssst....There's a fun layered hamburger die also)  My card was totally inspired by the fun Doodlebug Designs - Boys Only designer paper.  I was tickled at just how easily I was able to duplicate the soda bottle in the papers with the YNS Soda Die.  I added a few rhinestones for bubbles that I colored with an B39 Copic to match the blue in the papers and then added a metal star brad on the label.  The sentiment was computer generated and then cut out using the YNS Fishtail Banner Die before popping it up with foam tape.   The Perfect Layers tool was used before I rounded the designer paper's corners.

Better Late Than Never

Today is such a special treat for me!  I've been asked to guest design for Susana's Custom Art and Card Design.  All Susana had to do when she called me up was to whisper a little somethin' somethin' about new SCACD Elisabeth Bell stamps.  She knows my weakness, how could I resist?!!?   :)   LOL  And you aren't going to be able to resist either when you see the newest Fairy Dust Collection being released today.  There are 6 sweet and sassy fairies that will make you smile and brighten your day.  Elisabeth Bell sprinkled just the right amount of cute, charm and gorgeousness onto each of these special fairies.

If you're hopping along from the insanely talented Melanie Holtz blog then you're in the right place.  If not and you'd like to join in click HERE to take you to the start of the hop.

I honestly had the hardest time choosing which fairy to showcase today, they are just ALL so darling!!  I finally decided on this Time Flys fairy because it would make the perfect belated birthday card for a friend.  I paired it with my newest Teresa Collins Memories paper pad and SCACD Alices Clock Statement Corner die.  I LOVE this die...just look at all of the intricate detail.   The image was colored with Copics and I added some sparkle to her wings with Stardust Stickles.  I distressed the image panel as well as the designer papers edges and then sponged them with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo distressing ink.  The sentiment was computer generated.

I hope you love these new fairies as much as I do.  They are now available at SCACD and for my International friends, including Canada, you can get them at Quixotic Paperie.

Thanks for stopping by today, and if you're hopping along with us today - your next inspirational stop is Dianne.

Big Top Birthday

This past January my son, Nathan turned SIX years old and he asked for a Carnival/Circus themed birthday party.  When I sat down to create his birthday card, I knew that I didn't want it to be too babyish (he is a big time Kindergartener now after-all, lol) but not too grown up either.

I started with a card base using Papertrey Ink's Hawaiian Shores cardstock.  The white cardstock mat and various designer paper layers (from a mixture of different companies) were created with my Perfect Layers tool. I made my own background on the center white cardstock panel by using Baja Breeze ink (Stamping Up) and a ticket stamp from PTI's - It's Official stamp set.  You guys know that I'm not a "real" stamper and if I can't color a stamp I'm not really sure what to do with it.  LOL  So the fact that this little design element actually worked out the way I pictured it in my head had me SO tickled!!

I chose this adorable Happy Lion image from Kenny K which I colored with Copics.  After fussy cutting the image I added foam tape behind it to give dimension.  The circus tent die is from The Cat's Pajama's which is popped up with foam tape as well.  The gold number 6 is a chipboard sticker I found in my stash.

Copics Used:
Lion Body: E59, E99, YR27, YR24, YR31, YR30
Lion's Mane: E31, E33, E34, E37, E25, E29
Eyes: YG97, YG95, YG25
Tongue: R37, R35, R20

Here's a few photo's from Nathan's big day under the big top!!  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!
