MarkerPOP & Perfect Paper Crafting Blog Hop

Hi, and welcome to the MarkerPOP! & Perfect Paper Crafting Blog Hop!

The Perfect Layers designers are teaming up with the talented designers at MarkerPOP!, the home of premium markers plus lots more.  With projects created using Perfect Layers crafting tools and awesome coloring tools from MarkerPOP.com we hope to wow you with some gorgeous creations today!

Now, let's talk prizes!

Hop along with us today and leave some blog love for our Perfect Layers Designers and the MarkerPOP! designers to be eligible to win.   We at Perfect Layers will be giving away a $50 gift certificate to the Perfect Paper Crafting store.  MarkerPOP! will be giving away  a set of Perfect Tears Tools.  Two winners will be selected randomly from comments left on the DT blogs.  You have until Saturday, May 25th to play along -  Blog Hop winners will be announced on Sunday, May 26th.

This is the card I created to give to my mom for Mother's Day.  I guess the fact that I am the mother of 4 myself and laundry is all I ever seem to do; this Whimsy Stamps image, Lemon Pepper's Laundry Day carried by MarkerPOP! just kind of spoke to me and said, "MOM!" :)  LOL

After I had finished coloring, I really didn't want anything to take away from the image.  So I opted for a CAS (clean and simple) approach.  I started with a white cardstock base and layered it with August Rose cardstock from PTI.  My mat layers were made using my Perfect Layers ruler tool.  I added a border with a Martha Steward Arch Lattice punch, a scrap of designer paper from MME Lavender, a bit of twine, a button and a scrap of canvas.

I just adored the way this turned out and had the hardest time giving it away.  But since it was going to my Mom, I knew it was going to be LOVED and cherished!!  xoxo

Celebrating YOU Today

I created this card for a friend to give to his wife for Mother's Day.  She loves brown pelicans and likes to photograph them.  The only image that came to mind was Magnolia's Pelican from their Bon Voyage Collection.  He also wanted it to not be too girly and have a nautical theme.  I started with MoJo Monday #291 sketch and cut Fishtail Flags with designer papers from Fancy Pants Down by the Shore.  I love love LOVE this paper!!  The card base is Kraft cardstock and layered with Vintage Cream.  I embossed another layer of Kraft cardstock with an Ossie Dots embossing folder.  I machine stitched all of the layers.  Then using MFT Circle Stax die-manics I created a "porthole" and added matte finished silver brads for the rivets.   A layer of pop dots was added between the outer and inner circles for depth and dimension.  I added Red Poppy Saddle stitched ribbon from PTI and tied a bow using my Bow Easy.  The pelican was fussy cut and also popped up with foam tape and placed atop a wooden post.

Copics Used:

Here's the photo my friend provided that his wife recently took to give me reference.

Paper Piecing for the insane - LOL

Did you catch that title? Yea...I totally lost my mind when I decided to paper piece the chair in this image. I hadn't really though it out when I started and realized too late as I was cutting how very detailed the chair was.  Oh well, whatcha gonna do?  LOL  I've finally used this adorable image from Lili of the Valley called Story Time. Those little girls reading a story together are just so sweet and I though this would make a fabulous image to use to make my sister a Mother's Day card. She a great Mom and I wanted her to know that I was thinking of her.

I choose my DP (October Afternoon's - Fly a Kite) because I wanted to use the story paper in the pad, which I thought tied in perfectly with the image.  But the chair was paper pieced using paper from October Afternoon's, Thrift Shop.  Playing with some new goodies I used Vintage Cream felt and Papertrey Ink's ric rac die to go across the paper panels.  Here's another item I'm going to have to hide from myself so that I don't use it on every card.  :)  The buttons are also from Papertrey Ink.

Challenges:
Card Makin' Mamas = For a Loved One (my sister)
Prairie Fairy Fridays = #52 For the Girls
Totally Papercrafts = #65 Recipe
Paper Romance = Your favorite die (Jumbo Ric Rac)
Simon Says Stamp = Paper piecing
Try it on Tuesdays Something Old (stamp) & Something New (Ric Rac die & felt)

Of course this card is also my Sweet Stop Sketch sample for this week, which was a lot of fun to work with.  Korin has the BEST sketches and even though some take me out of my comfort zone, they always turn out so great.  As you can see, I turned the sketch on it's side for my card.

The Sugar Babies have gorgeous sketch samples to share with
you today, so please be sure to stop by and check them out.

Your Next Stamp & Craft us Crazy

I'm honored to be guest designing for Craft Us Crazy on behalf of Your Next Stamp who is a sponsor of the current challenge...
~ Mom's and Flowers ~

Now you aren't required to incorporate both themes for the challenge to enter, but I was able to by using this happy little flower, Dixie Daisy.  This image was part of the March YNS release and I LOVE it and couldn't wait to create with it!!  I've used DP from My Mind's Eye, Fine and Dandy which begged to be paired with kraft cardstock.  The kraft cardstock was embossed with the Swiss Dots embossing folder.   The paper panels were all machine stitched and I used tiny champagne colored heart rhinestones for a simple yet sparkly accent.  The jumbo sized ric rac was made using Papertrey Ink's die and cream colored felt.  The image was stamped on Vintage Cream cardstock and for fun I stamped the image again and popped the eyes up with foam tape for dimension.  The petals were given a sparkle treatment by using my mixture of Shimmerz and Stickles.

Craft us Crazy is owned and operated by my dear friend Jeri, so this a real treat for me to be designing along with her and her very talented design team.   I hope you will stop by the Craft us Crazy challenge blog and link up your Mother's Day and/or Flower project for your chance to win a $10 Your Next Stamp Gift Certificate.

Thanks for stopping by today!!

For My Mom

This is the card that I've made to give my Mom on Mother's Day.  I've only just finished putting the finishing touches on it this morning.  I cannot remember the last time that I got SO MUCH joy creating a card!!  I almost didn't want to finish it, it made me THAT happy while making it.  I played around with embellishing it until late last night...I had so many different ideas on what to use that I couldn't decide.  I made tons of gorgeous cream colored felt roses to put on it; but thought they took too much attention away from the image so I only used one.   I also was going to machine stitch on the paper panels but changed my mind and went for distressing the edges with ink instead.  And coloring?!?!  Well, I LOVED  every second of it!!  This is my first time using a Stampavie image by Sarah Kay and now I want them ALL!!!

This little darling is called Picnic Time and reminds me so much of my Brookie playing with her dolls.  I love to watch her play, but if she catches you watching her, she will stop playing and makes a little grunting sound until you look away.  LOL  And let me tell you, she is the sweetest and kindest Mommy to her babydolls.  She always speaks so sweetly to them,  showers them with kisses, and plans their weddings?!?!  LOL    I think she will be a much better Mommy than me one day.  :)

The DP I used is October Afternoon's, Thrift Shop.  I finally found a way to use the music paper in this pad.  And although it is mostly covered up...I LOVE IT!!!  The postage stamp and die are both from Whimsy Stamps.  And I know that I'm gonna have to hide them from myself, so that I don't use them on every card!!  LOL

Really....I could go on and on about how much I love this card.  Hopefully my Mom will feel the same.

Challenges:
Party Time Tuesdays = #14 Mother's Day
Tuesday Throwdown = #47 Mother's Day
The Kraft Journal = Mother's Day using kraft cardstock
There She Goes = #105 3D Flowers
Woodware USA = #25 Blue, Yellow, Brown
Stamptacular Sunday = #109 Mum's the word

Oh and I wanted to share my favorite photo from Easter...my little family just being themselves.  LOL

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A 2 Cute Mother's Day!!

Hi Everyone!! This is my first official card for the 2 Cute Rubber Stamps Design Team. I've used their images before and I always have a hard time choosing images to use because they are all just 2 Cute!!! :)

Please make sure you go and check out the 2 Cute DT Blog for great ideas and inspiration and the Store to purchase your 2 Cute stamps. Heidi the owner offers her stamps 3 different ways...cling mount, wood mount, and digi. You can have your images any way YOU prefer! How awesome is THAT?!?!? Oh, and all wood mounted stamps are 50% off off right now, so it's a great time to buy.

2 Cute will also have a challenge and a FREE digi image starting May 13th!! Please make sure to join us.

I've used the Owl Miss You digi image for my Mother's Day card. This little owl is perfect for any occasion. (Teacher Appreciation and the end of school is coming up) I also love that it's a digi image...I flipped this image so that the flower would be to the left of the owl instead of the right. It suited my sketch better that way; which is why I'm a huge fan of of digi images. You can manipulate them to fit your needs. Need it larger? smaller? NO PROBLEM!!

I LOVE this card. Don't you love when a project turns out better than you expected? Even my hubby loved it. When he saw it yesterday he said, "Oh, don't give that one away!" LOL

I want to share a quick tip with you....I didn't have the right colored flower to use on this card, so I found a little ivory rose in my stash and colored it with my Copic marker to match PERFECTLY!!! I love my Copics. :)  I'm always finding new ways to use them.
