Singing in the Rain

If you're looking for the TSG Happy Trail Blog Hop, click HERE.  If you are here for the Ribbon Carousel / Kraftin' Kimmie Blog Hop then you're in the right place.  Of course,  you could do both!!  :)

Welcome to the

Hang on to your hats, Peeps!!  You are in for a treat today!!
The amazing designers at Kraftin' Kimmie are teaming up with the Ribbon Carousel Crewmates for a Blog Hop that is sure to knock your socks off!!

For today's hop, Kimmie generously gifted me one of her latest released images, Gene
I chose designer papers from Echo Park's (Note to Self) collection and paired it with Bazzill's Marshmallow, Peanut Cluster and Licorice Twist cardstock.  I then tied some Graphite Vintage Seam Binding into a simple knot and frayed the ends.  I also used my new Perfect Layers tool to achieve the perfectly straight and spaced 1/16" layers on my card.  I LOVE this tool, there is NO measuring...the tool does the work for you!!  :)  You can create layers from 1/16 " to 1".  Believe me when I say it's a must have for card makers and scrapbooker's alike!!  Click HERE and use coupon code: Wendy5% for a discount at check-out.

Don't forget to leave me a comment for your chance to win one of two great prizes!!
The Ribbon Carousel will be giving away a $25 gift certificate to the store and Kraftin Kimmie will give away a winner the choice of 1 stamp set or 3 individual stamps!!

It's So Fluffy!

It's my turn to host a 7 Kids College Fund Challenge and I've chosen...
~ It's So FLUFFY!! ~
So lets see all those soft and fluffy elements like Felt, Suede, Flowersoft, etc...

I chose this challenge because Brooke and Nathan's (okay...mine too) favorite movie is Despicable Me.  (However, Brooke pronounces it...Pickle and Me - LOL) and our very favorite quote from the movie is when the little girl sees the giant stuffed unicorn and squeals/growls..."It's so FLUFFY, I'm gonna DIE"   I've even made it my phone's ring tone.  LOL

I chose to use Kraftin' Kimmie's Goldilocks since she's holding some sweet fluffy bears.  I kept the card fairly simple with a lattice border, chocolate pearls and a felt rose.  The DP is My Mind's Eye, Hattie.  Her hair was sooo much fun to color and I couldn't quit adding color so it ended up being a darker blonde than I had originally intended.  For sparkle on her dress and hairbows I used a clear Spica pen.

Challenges:

I apologize to everyone for not visiting your blogs and leaving some love.  I know how much your comments mean to me, so I feel bad when I haven't returned the favor.  Any resemblance to a schedule has simply gone out the window since summer has begun.  I've been doing things with the kids that I've been putting off and my husband and I are painting the exterior of our 2 story home ourselves!!  So I've just been plain exhausted and honestly a little burned out lately.  I plan to be reducing my DT commitments in the coming weeks and taking a much needed break.  I hope you all understand.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!

Ghoulish Greetings!!

I'm so excited about our challenge this week over at Paper Sundaes.  We would like for you to create a project using  Mixed Mediums.  Which means use your Copics and chalk like I did or colored pencils, distressing ink or watercolors.  Doesn't matter which two mediums, just use at least two.

And we have an awesome sponsor this week....
They are offering a $25 gift certificate to one lucky winner!!
I'm so excited for you all....wish I could win!!  :)

Maybe I'm a little bit freaky but the second I saw this Kraftin' Kimmie image, Zelda the Zombie, I HAD to have her!!!  There was no waiting (I'm on a bit of a spending freeze right now), had to have her right NOW!!  I just think she's the most adorable zombie and best Halloween image EVER!!  I love her.  I really really love her!!  :)  She's colored with Copic markers and I used chalk inks to create her background.   Those are my mixed mediums.

***By the way, never use Copic markers over any other medium.  It will ruin the tip of the marker.  You can put other mediums on top of a image colored with Copic's but just not the other way around.  Don't want anyone ruining their markers***

Challenges:

Stamptacular Sunday = #75 Distress it (Sanded spiderweb after embossing it)
All That Scraps = Lace (The black lace ribbon behind image)
Bee Crafty = #37 Anything Goes
Charisma Cards = #35 Inspired by Song (Monster Mash - Bobby Picket **had to look that one up)

I also love to have us all dress up in a coordinating theme.
This year the babies got to pick and they chose....Toy Story 3!
Here's this years cast of characters:

Brooke (2) = Jessie
Nathan (3) = Buzz Lightyear
Amanda (10) = Little Bo Peep
Michael (11) = Woody
Mommy = Barbie
Daddy = Ken

It's going to be so fun!!  And don't worry, I'll post pictures for you all to see!!  LOL

Here's a photo of last year

Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf

My mom and sister actually made that wolf costume for me

Every Mom Needs A Day Out!

Well I was going to post this much earlier today, but I couldn't pull myself away from playing with the kids outside. It was so beautiful that we even had a picnic dinner out by our pool. Just me and the "babies".... perfect evening and so much fun.

Six months ago, my son's doctor urged me to enroll him in a Mom's Day Out program. She didn't say it, but I'm pretty sure she thought I coddled him when it came to his speech and she wanted to force him to make himself understood to others besides Mommy & Daddy. Well, I give it to her...it worked like a charm! He talks so MUCH and so clearly now that I hardly remember how it was before. LOL

I found the perfect place (although it was 20 miles from home) and decided to include my daughter in the program as well. They loved it! A few hours every week I was able to run a couple of errands or go to appointments without dragging the kids along. I'd never realized just how much I needed that time for myself as well. But all good things must come to an end. The program served it's purpose and now it was time to take them out. So today was their last day. While there they had made friends and grown very close to their teachers. I LOVE their teachers! They really loved and cared for my children in a way that I had not expected, but soooo appreciated. (I wanted to include a picture of them with each of my kids, but I didn't ask them if that was okay, so I'm playing it safe by not posting it. )

So I made this card for each of them as a "thank you".

I fell in love with Charlotte by Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps the second I saw her! To me she looks like frazzled little mommy who desperately needs a break! (Boy, can I relate!) I had to have her... those bouncing curls and little eye twitch are so adorable, not to mention, I think she looks a lot like me most days! LOL I had so much fun coloring that hair. Just wait 'till you see the number of colors I used...I just couldn't stop. :)

The photo was taken at night and I just couldn't capture just how awesome this card looks in real life. I'm entering this card for the Copic Creations Challenge # 24. It's their 1 year blog anniversary, and you are to use your favorite Copic technique. Mine is Brunette Hair.

It's also for the Color Throw Down Challenge # 85 to use these colors
