I'm a Dirty Girl!!

^^^^ Did you catch that blog post title?!?!   Eeeepp!!  That's right....I'm now a Dirty Dozen Designer for Splitcoaststampers!!  I've been about to burst with excitment for the last month keeping this a secret when I've been wanting to shout my news from the rooftops!!  Well, I did got outside and do a little "WhooHoo" shouting, after speaking with Lydia on the phone - so I guess I did spill the beans to the neighbors. ;) 

I was so itimidated with actually being a part of the Dirt Pile that I completely lost my MoJo in all of the excitement.  I would sit down to create and nothing would happen.  Finally I realized that what I love best is most likely why I was selected - so I just took a deep breath grabbed my Copics and colored on.  (Which is where I came up with the sentiment idea.)  There was no more perfect image than, Kenny K's -  Color Me Janette.  I used designer paper from Pebbles, Seen & Noted and created the computer generated sentiment and tucked a loop of teal cotton twill behind it.

Celebrating with some Christmas Candy!!

I was thrilled when Karen at Your Next Stamp approached me over the summer to create a winter themed gift set for Staedtler using their products and YNS images.  I wasn't sure I would be able to color without my Copics, but I was willing to give it a shot.  I used a combination of Staedtler Watercolor pencils, Fineliner pens and Markers to color one of my favorite images from YNS, Tabogganing Ellie.

And can you believe it?!?!  Staedtler is now using my creations in their winter promotional ad's in craft magazines across the country!!  Accckkk!!  I was so excited a few weeks ago when I realized that the ad's were probably starting to show up in magazines on newsstands that I rushed down to my local craft store and thumbed through the December 2011 issue of Crafts 'n Things magazine until I found the ad!!

The kids and I were squealing and giggling in the aisle of the store!!  :)   I then spent the better part of the afternoon trying to convince Nathan that the lady they used in the ad didn't steal Mommy's project!!  ROTFL!!



So to celebrate I'm giving away some Christmas Blog Candy to one of sweet followers & friends.

So are you wondering what happened to Wendy's Whimsy?

Nothing....I'm still here, and yes you're in the right place.

It's just a little name change that's all.  Why?

Well, SugarPea is my daughters nickname and I think it describes her perfectly.  Sweet, small and cute!!

That also is how I would describe my card making style and thought the name "SugarPea" suited this blogging endeavour of mine better than "Whimsy".

So there you have it...
