I'm a Dirty Girl!!

^^^^ Did you catch that blog post title?!?!   Eeeepp!!  That's right....I'm now a Dirty Dozen Designer for Splitcoaststampers!!  I've been about to burst with excitment for the last month keeping this a secret when I've been wanting to shout my news from the rooftops!!  Well, I did got outside and do a little "WhooHoo" shouting, after speaking with Lydia on the phone - so I guess I did spill the beans to the neighbors. ;)

I was so itimidated with actually being a part of the Dirt Pile that I completely lost my MoJo in all of the excitement.  I would sit down to create and nothing would happen.  Finally I realized that what I love best is most likely why I was selected - so I just took a deep breath grabbed my Copics and colored on.  (Which is where I came up with the sentiment idea.)  There was no more perfect image than, Kenny K's -  Color Me Janette.  I used designer paper from Pebbles, Seen & Noted and created the computer generated sentiment and tucked a loop of teal cotton twill behind it.

Copics Used:
Skin: E13, E11, E00, E50, E93, R30
Hair: E50, E31, E35, E29
Eyes: YG99, YG95, YG03
Sweater/Shoes: E19, R17, R14, R12
Jeans: B99, B97, B95, B93, B91
Marker: C7, C5, C3, C1, BG18, BG15, BG13, BG11

In celebration, I'm going to do a little Blog Candy giveaway.  Only a few little rules to be eligible to win...be a Follower of my blog, "Like" my SugarPea Designs FaceBook page and leave me a comment on this post.  I'll draw and post the winner on Sunday, June 23.

Thanks so much for stopping by today and sharing in my excitement!!

Big Top Birthday

This past January my son, Nathan turned SIX years old and he asked for a Carnival/Circus themed birthday party.  When I sat down to create his birthday card, I knew that I didn't want it to be too babyish (he is a big time Kindergartener now after-all, lol) but not too grown up either.

I started with a card base using Papertrey Ink's Hawaiian Shores cardstock.  The white cardstock mat and various designer paper layers (from a mixture of different companies) were created with my Perfect Layers tool. I made my own background on the center white cardstock panel by using Baja Breeze ink (Stamping Up) and a ticket stamp from PTI's - It's Official stamp set.  You guys know that I'm not a "real" stamper and if I can't color a stamp I'm not really sure what to do with it.  LOL  So the fact that this little design element actually worked out the way I pictured it in my head had me SO tickled!!

I chose this adorable Happy Lion image from Kenny K which I colored with Copics.  After fussy cutting the image I added foam tape behind it to give dimension.  The circus tent die is from The Cat's Pajama's which is popped up with foam tape as well.  The gold number 6 is a chipboard sticker I found in my stash.

Copics Used:
Lion Body: E59, E99, YR27, YR24, YR31, YR30
Lion's Mane: E31, E33, E34, E37, E25, E29
Eyes: YG97, YG95, YG25
Tongue: R37, R35, R20

Here's a few photo's from Nathan's big day under the big top!!  :)

Naughty is the new Nice!

I created this little Christmas card for my husband using X-mas Hottie from Whimsy Stamps.  After the image had been colored with Copics I fussy cut it and popped it up with foam tape for dimension.  I used papers from Theresa Collins (Family Home Collection) and my favorite part....a strip of simple red crepe paper.  Who knew that party supplies could make such great card making supplies too?!?!  :)  The crinkle from the crepe paper, the fuzzy pom pom trim and the silk ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel give this card so much texture and makes it oh so touchable!!  The sentiment used was a digital freebie from Whimsy Stamps.

You Rock 40!

The Sugar Babies are back after our Christmas break with a new sketch for you today.  Korin always creates the most fabulous sketches and this weeks is REALLY fun!!  It has film strip kind of vibe going on, which challenged me a bit until I decided to rotate it and then it all fell into place!!  :)

The Kenny K Groove Dude digital image was printed on PaperTreyVintage Cream cardstock and colored with Copics.  I colored this image one afternoon when I needed a distraction...I was so into the coloring that I didn't realize that I was practically sitting in the dark the whole time.  It's hard to tell from the photo but there is a strip of Navy Vintage Seam Binding above the notebook edge border.  The paper's I used were some older 12x12 scrapbook papers from my stash.  The ticket is also a digital image (I think from Raindrop Echo Designs) and printed on the same scrapbook paper.  I used my new number dies from My Favorite Things along with some Tim Holtz metal gear and sprocket embellishments.

This is the birthday card I've created for my amazing husbands 40th birthday.  He is truly the greatest guy I know.  He's not only handsome, but a fantastic Father and husband...I LOVE him so much!!  He treated me to a weekend in New York on my 40th so I'm treating him to a weekend in VEGAS for his!!  (Which kind of feels like a gift to myself too....but hey, who's complaining!)!  LOL

Naughty or Nice?

I can't believe that it's almost been two weeks since I last picked up my Copics to color.  (I was actually a little nervous that I might have forgotten how to use them.)  So when I sat down to create my Sweet Stop Sketch card I was in a serious mood to color.  But looking through my stamp collection, I didn't seem to have anything that would give me my coloring fix (LOL)...so of course a little on-line shopping was called for.  I've wanted to color those gorgeous girls over at Kenny K for the longest, but never seemed to have the time; so when I saw Mistletoe I knew she was the one!!  LOL  And let me tell you, she totally delivered!!  I enjoyed every single second I spent coloring her.

I put the "Naughty or Nice?" sentiment from My Favorite Things on a banner and paired it with a Let it Snow snowflake Die-namic which is also from MFT's.  The Christmas paper I used was from a sampler pack I purchased last year but now I've forgotten who made it.  A touch of Star Dust Stickles was added to portions of her white trim for girly sparkle and some yummy Cherry Divine Twine from the Ribbon Carousel finishes it off.

By the way, I've already given this card to my husband who immediately
said, "I'd like Naughty, please!" when he saw it!!  LMAO  ;)
