Elves Make Christmas Happen

Did you know that each month at the Ribbon Carousel we give one winner who participates in our challenge their very own ribbon carousel?  And we always make it easy to play along.

This month our theme is
The Holidays

Last year, my little family began the Elf of the Shelf tradition.  I was writing down ideas that I had for our elves on little scraps of paper or post it notes all over the house.  They easily would get lost or thrown away and I was tired of frantically look for them late at night.  This year I decided to be more organized and create a little notebook for jotting my ideas down in.

I started with a notebook that I found in the $1 bin at Michaels.  I covered it Bazzill Peanut Cluster cardstock and Echo Parks, Seasons Greeting designer paper.  I fell in LOVE with Pixie Elf Lucy from CC Designs and was in luck that I could get it as a digital image. I wanted it to be make it larger so it would be in scale with the size of the notebook.  After coloring with my Copic markers, I then cut the image out and popped it up with foam tape.  The sentiment was computer generated using two different fonts but I don't remember which one's they were now :(  I added some zigzag machine stitching and the last bit of my favorite Satin Pleated Ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel.

Copics Used:
Skin: E13, E21, E00, E50 (Cheeks R02)
Hair: E47, E44, E43, E42, E41
Shirt: YG99, YG97, YG95, YG93, YG91, YG21
Trim: E43, E42, E41
Stockings & Hat: E18, R39, R37, R35
Jingle Bells: Y26, YR24, Y17, YR31

I hope my creation has inspired to you play along with us this week at the Ribbon Carousel Challenge Blog Remember, your creation can be anything you'd like, just be sure you use ribbon, bakers twine, lace, thread...(anything that comes on a spool) on your card or project.

Happy Harvest

Happy Sunday!!  I'm designing with the Sundae Girls this week for the Paper Sundaes Halloween/Fall challenge.  This weeks sponsor is Simon Says Stamp where you can find the images that I've used here on my card from CC Designs - Emma with Pumpkins, Butterfly Fence and Pumpkins.

Keeping the card design simple, I've used some older DP from Basic Grey (Mellow) and MFT's Solid Bracket Border and Cloud Die-namics.  The sentiment cloud along with Emma and her little cart were cut out and popped up with foam tape for dimension.

Hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!!

September Sweet Stampin' Guest Designer

Good Morning Everyone!
I hope those of you in the states are enjoying your long Labor Day weekend.  We have plans to finish up a few lingering summer projects around the house and hopefully take a dip in the pool too before the weekend ends :)

I'm excited to share to be able to finally share with you that I've been asked to Guest Design for the month of September for the Sweet Stampin' Challenge.  And this week the challenge is No Birthday Cards along with an optional sketch.  You can find all the details and view all the beautiful samples the design team has created over at the Sweet Stampin' blog.

I've created a thank you card featuring a CC Designs image - Kiki with Puppy.  I love the simplicity of this card and only used a single sheet of designer paper from Memory Box (Gossamer).  I added a lattice arch border punch and topped it with some ruffled pink ribbon.

I hope you will check back later today to see my Sweet Stop Sketch post!

You're Fin-tastic

Wow!!  It's already time for another 7 Kids College Fund challenge.  (Where does the time go?!?!)
This week is a sketch challenge with a beach theme.

For my Design Team sample, I've used Treasure Tempestwind by CC Designs.  I think the Sweet November mermaids and their little sea pals are the most beautiful of all the mermaid images!!  I just LOVED coloring all that flowing hair.  She started out as a much paler blond but I just couldn't "leave it alone" and she became a golden blonde instead. Her tail sparkles with my concoction of Pixie Dust Shimmerz and Star Dust Stickles and lots of crystal rhinestones.  And the half pearls were colored with my Copic (BG11) to match the pale aqua in the October Afternoon's Seaside designer paper.  I've had this  tiny little starfish for years, but figured this was a good time to finally use it!!  :)

Challenges:
Craft Your Passion = #59 Let It All Hang Out
Magical Monday's = White + One other color
Stamp Something = Beachy Colors
Totally Papercrafts = #67 Don't be Square
Lollipop Crafts = #40 Bling It
Creative Card Crew = Anything Goes

Here's a quick look at the challenge sketch which was created by Suzanne Dean.  I hope you will join us at 7 Kids College Fund and share your beach themed project with us!!

Paper Sundaes - Change of Seasons

Well, I think this is a record for me, 8 post days in a row!!

Hope everyone's enjoying their weekend!  And I also hope you will top your Sunday with us at Paper Sundae's by joining our Change of Season's challenge.
It's wide open for interpretation, so any image that reflects or represents a SEASON will do.  LOL!

I've made a 3x3 Post It Note cover with a notebook ring.  I am FOREVER never having anything in my purse to write on.  So I decided the other day that my next project would be to make a small little notebook or something for my purse.  I didn't feel like dragging my Bind-it-All out so this what I came up with instead.  It's perfect!!  I didn't embellish it really because I figured it'll get roughed up in my purse. But I did use my Scor-Tape to secure the pad to the cover on the spine and on the back so that it wouldn't fall out of the cover.

I've chosen a CC Designs image, the pumpkins that come along with Pumpkin Emma that you can find at our sponsor Paper Jewels.  They carry a large selection of CC Designs, Sweet Pea, Spesch, and Bildmalarna stamps.

Challenges:
Charisma Cardz = #40 Autumn Colors
Digi Doodle Shops Best = #28 Orange
Paper Romance = Halloween or Fall
Kaboodle Doodles = #41 Celebrate Fall Colors

Joy to the World

Our challenge this week at Paper Sundae's is Christmas.
Can you believe it's almost here already?!?!
I chose to use CC Designs, Angel Emma.
You can purchase your's at our sponsor, Simon Says Stamp.

I chose this image thinking it would be a good gauge as to whether or not I should use this image as my families Christmas card this year which I will mass produce.  We have a HUGE family.  My husband is the youngest of 10!!  So I have lots of brother and sister in-laws and adult nieces and nephews too.  Our Christmas card list is really big, so I need it to be fabulous but fast.

Well, this wasn't fast and as for fabulous...I like it but I don't LOVE it.  I really really wanted to use the music sheet embossing folder that I bought and I've never used.  I thought it would be perfect, but I just couldn't make it work with this design.  This is a simple card, but it seriously took 2 DAYS to finish.  I don't know if it's the design or the paper that's the problem.  I know if I want to mass produce this it will have to be smaller for sure.  Does anyone have a suggestion on how I could work in my music sheet embossing folder?  And if you have a visual suggestion that's all the better, just send me a link.

I am really happy with the image though. Love all the sparkle and it was quick to color.  So I think it will be the image I use for our Christmas cards for sure.  Now I just need a smaller, better design.

Tomorrow is the first day of school for us, so this card is is in CELEBRATION!!!!  LOL

Hope everyone is enjoying their Sunday.  If you get some time to do a little stampin' why don't you join us at Paper Sundaes where we have a sketch challenge going on this week.

Our Sponsor is

I've used Apple Emma from CC Designs.  You can get CC Design stamps at Paper Jewels.
I realized the other day that I have probably used this stamp a dozen times and I just never show any of the projects that I make with her.  (Weird?!?!)  Well here she is!!  LOL

Hey!!  Did you notice anything??
Yep, there's stitching on my card!!!!  If you remember from a previous post,  my husband bought me a sewing machine in celebration of my making the Elisabeth Bell Design Team.  (Isn't he so sweet!!!)  I do not know how to sew, but I have envied all of those gorgeous cards that have stitching on them for a long time now.  Well it turns out that my husband knows a little bit about sewing (enough to be dangerous, LOL).  He threaded the machine and gave me a few pointers.  So this is my first attempt.  What do ya think?  Not bad huh?

Beach Honey

A few weeks ago I was asked by ABC Challenge Blog to guest design for them for the month of August, and of course said yes!! I love playing along with their challenges, they are always such fun.
Today's challenge is A is for August.  Well summer is almost over but we will be going to the beach in a few weeks so that was my inspiration for this challenge.

I'm a huge CC Designs fan and this Beach Honey stamp is soooo sweet!!  I tried some faux stitching again and inked around the image while it was still in the Nestibilities.  Something I had never tried before, but it really gave this card exactly what it needed.  I then added Glossy Accents to her sunglasses and used a real sand-dollar and starfish which I attached to the ribbon with glue dots.

Under the weather....

I figured since I have been under the weather, and I had no Get Well Soon cards on hand, this was the perfect time to make some. This is Rainy Day Emma from CC Designs. I was inspired to make a little rain puddle by Tori at Wild Sprinkles which was so easy to do. I love the little details... Glossy Accent to give her rain coat/boots tons of shine and I colored the jewels with my Copic marker since I didn't have any red ones.

Here you can really see the glossy shine to her rain coat and boots.

This card is for the following Challenges:

Hi

This card totally took me out of my comfort zone. I've never made a circle card, and honestly I'm not sure I like it. I wanted to give it a try because they look so pretty and dainty. But the circle cards I seem to be drawn to are those with sentiments on them only and not with images.

I also used paper in my "Ewww, what were you thinking?" stash. (We all have one of those right?) I seem to have more of that than I care to admit. So I promised myself that the next card I made to use something from that stash. So the fact that I don't like the paper is throwing me off too. Oh well, they can't all be winners. LOL

This is CC Designs, Cherry Emma and she is just darling! Both Emma and the stump are digi images and I knew right away that I wanted to cut her out and use pop-dots to give it depth. I added Stickles to the cherries and Shimmerz to the tops of the mushrooms.

This card is for the following challenges:

All That Scraps Week 24 Challenge = Shaped card and image sold at ATS
The Pink Elephant Challenge # 61 = Nature
Simon Says Stamps Challenge = Card for a Child
Stampin for the Weekend = Ribbons & Bows
Raise the Bar Challenge = Let's Spring for It

Copics Used:
Hair: E57,E35, E34, Y26, E31
Skin: E00, E50, (R00 Blush)
Shirt: R22, R11, R00
Pants: R24, R22, R20
Mushrooms: R59, R29, R20 - Y26, Y21, Y13
Stump: E59, E25, E35, E31 (Too close to her hair color - Won't do that again)
Grass: G99, G24, G40

I apologize for being MIA all week, I've been under the weather ever since Sunday. Hope to have something new to show you tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by!

Gift Card Holder

I made this very simple gift card holder as my Mom's birthday card. Her birthday is this Sunday and with all the attention on Easter I wanted to make her something a little special. (I love this little gift card holder so much that I almost don't want to give it away!) When I finished coloring her I thought she looks a little like Wednesday from the Addams Family. hee hee :)

I found the instructions for this gift card holder MONTHS ago on SplitCoast Stampers but I never saved the link, I just wrote the measurements down. Sorry :(

The base of the card is 4 1/4″ wide x 11″ long. I used my Scor-Pal and scored at 3″, 4 1/4″, 5 1/2″, and 8 1/2″. I used my MS border punch and magnets from Basic Grey to keep it closed.

Here you can see that I covered the magnet with another decorative panel. The fun thing about this gift card holder is that it looks like a small card and you can decorate the inside too with a sentiment or even stamp another coordinating image.

I used CC Designs, Swiss Miss Rosalie (Digi) from All That Scraps. I cut her out and used Pop Dots and then colored the roses twice and popped them up again. Tiny little pearls on her dress, Accent Gloss on her shoes and a hint of Shimmerz on the roses. I just LOVE her!!!

This is for the following Challenges:

All That Scraps = Spring Bling
Your Next Stamp = Purple
Copic Creations = Flowers

Copics Used:
Hair - C9, C7, C5, C3
Skin - E00, E50 (R00 Blush)
Dress/ Shoes - BV04, BV02, BV000
Roses - V15, V01, V000
