Wishing you Well

Last year, I taught a few Copic coloring classes using this sweet image, Wishing you well from Penny Black.  And when my poor wittle guy got so sick last week over the long Memorial Day weekend it reminded me that I had never shown this card.  He's feeling better now, but when he's sick it just breaks my heart.  He gives us all sad puppy dog eyes and every time he would cough, I would cough too.  Not because I was getting sick, but because he wasn't doing it right and I kept wanting to cough for him.   Please tell me that I'm not the only one to have ever done that - I think it's a Mom thing.  :)  LOL  

My card started with a white cardstock base and was layered with Kraft and Ocean Tides cardstock using my Perfect Layers Tool.  I then added a bit of designer paper from My Mind's Eye before machine stitching all of the panels together.  I wrapped around some vintage white lace and silky crushed ribbon that was tied into a bow using my Bow Easy.  The nurse image was cut out using an MFT Oval Stax die and popped up with foam tape for dimension.  The PaperTrey Ink (Vintage Picnic Stamp Set) sentiment was stamped using MFT Black Licorice Ink.

  

That poor teddy bear looks so worried, doesn't he?   After coloring him with Copics I gave him texture by dampening a terry cloth washcloth with colorless blender and dabbing it on.

Ice Ice Baby!

Hi Peeps!!  Did ya miss me?!?!  
What started out as a little 2 week holiday break turned into a MONTH long vacation!  

After the hectic holiday's, I just needed some time away.  I've been spending tons of time with my family, reading and just enjoying the every day little things.  I didn't even stepped a foot in my studio.  Every time I had gone in to do some crafting I would just sit there....my mojo had completely disappeared.   I started to worry that it wasn't coming back, because even buying new stamping goodies didn't do the trick.  But two days ago,  I blew the dust off my Copics and sat down to color this sweet Fairy Stardust stamp by Penny Black (Mo Manning)....all my creative juices started flowing again!  :)

For almost a year now my friends Kim and Alisa have been asking me to color this image.  And since our challenge this month at the Ribbon Carousel is Winter Spirit - I thought this would be the perfect time to do it!!   

 I dry embossed the designer paper from Carte Bella (Winter Fun) with a snowflake embossing folder.  Using ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel, I wove blue silk through white crocheted trim and then tied a sweet bow using my Bow Easy.  I used an MFT die to create the flourish which I then covered with Star Dust Stickles and tucked in behind the bow.  The card mat layers were created using my Perfect Layers tool.

 My coloring was inspired by watching the animated movie Monsters vs Aliens with my kids.  One of the main characters has white hair; and throughout the entire movie, all I could think about was how I wanted to try coloring white hair with my Copics.  :)  Not too bad for a first try.  All of the sparkle that you see was created with a Clear Spica pen.

I was generously gifted Nikki Sivils' 12x12 Messages Collection Kit to work with for today's hop.  I used a few of the cardstock punch outs that are included in the kit as my sentiment behind a MFT Rolled Rose die.   I machine stitched the designer paper and layered it onto a Bazzill's Peanut Cluster cardstock base.  I used Redesa Seam Binding which I then threaded through some Natural Spidey Crocheted Lace.  The image, Mo Manning's - Adele was fussy cut and popped up with foam tape for dimension.

First Day of School

I'm the hostess with the mostess this week at the Ribbon Carousel and I want to see all those school themed cards and projects.  

I've created a card to give to my son on his first day of Kindergarten and knew that Mo Manning's, To School would be perfect image to use.  I started with a card base of Bazzill's Peanut Cluster cardstock and accented with a layer of Candy Bar.  I added lots of textures with the scrap of corrugated paper, large button, Alphabet Twill and Brown grosgrain ribbon.  The sentiment is a chipboard sticker from my stash and the designer paper is from My Mind's Eye Six by Six (Away We Go) collection.

  

As I mentioned, Nathan started Kindergarten last week.  

I've known this day was coming.  For months I've been dreading and preparing for this day and yet - this day took me by complete surprise.  Without a doubt, the tears I shed and sadness I felt over my "baby" starting a new chapter in his life were totally expected.  But what was so surprising was how much he looked like a big kid, how deeply I missed him during the day and the sobering realization at just how quickly 5 years has gone by.  But I have to say that his confidence and contagious excitement about going to school for the very first time was the nicest surprise.

Peppermint Twist

I'm so excited that it's my turn to host a challenge for the Ribbon Carousel Challenge Blog!!  I have finally had the chance to use this beautiful digital image from Mo Manning called called Pammy's Stocking.  I wish so badly that I had printed the image out on Vintage Cream cardstock (PTI) rather than in white, it would have looked SO much better that way.  The papers are once again from My Mind's Eye (Lost & Found Christmas)...I love it so much that I've almost used the entire paper pad!!  :)   

The ribbon treatment was created by weaving Red Rancho Vintage Seam Binding through some gorgeous Ivory Crocheted Lace Ribbon.  I've even created a really quick video tutorial showing you how I did it.

What's Cooking?

I'm finally back after a little break with a sample for the Sweet Stop Sketch.  Korin has another fabulous sketch this week.  For my image I've used Mo Manning's, What's Cooking?   I made this card for my Sister-InLaw who made my family dinner and then brought it over to us last week.  It was such a treat to have a delicious homemade Indian dinner of Curry Chicken and Roti.  I tried giving the image a darker Indian skin tone but one of my markers had run dry so she just ended up having a bit of a tan instead.  LOL.  The DP is Cosmo Cricket - Garden Variety and finished off with a Jute string tied into a knot and covered with a button.

Childhood Memories

This naughty boy is, Sam in Trouble.  And it was THE perfect image to make a coloring box for my son Nathan. Some of you may remember that I made THIS coloring box for Brooke and had promised to make one for Nathan too.  

He loves it and is taking very good care of it too, although he's not very interested in coloring right now.  He is all about his ABC's - actually obsessed would be more accurate.  LOL!!   He carries around his notebook and green sharpie pen and writes his letters everyday - ALL.  DAY.  LONG!!   Next we will be working on writing real words and not just letters.  For now the only word he can write is his name and he can write that like no-body's business!!  :)
