Christmas in July

Dig your your holiday stamps Peeps, because it's Christmas in July this week at the Ribbon Carousel.  Show us your projects with a Christmas theme.

Although this Silver Fairy image from Wee Stamps is not an actual Christmas themed image, I tried to make it Christmasy with the colors I chose.  I love the warm brown and deep reds in the My Mind's Eye (Union Square) 6x6 paper pad.  So I chose to started with a Candy Bar cardstock base and accented with a layer of Butter Mints cardstock.  I tied each end of a strip of Natural Crocheted Ribbon into loose knots.

Laters, Baby!

When Saturated Canary release this Grey Tie image last week, I could not WAIT to sit down and color her up!!  It turned out to be a perfect image to use with this weeks Anything Goes theme for Dude Time Challenges which the Ribbon Carousel is sponsoring.  

Since this is for a guy (my husband, to be exact) I wanted to keep the layout and embellishments simple.  The layout I used is this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch 163.  I started with a Rock Candy cardstock base and accented it with a layer of Icy Mint cardstock.  The designer papers are from My Mind's Eye (Portobello Road).  The sentiment was computer generated using the Noteworthy font and My Favorite Things Mini Tag Dia-namic.  A few silver/grey rhinestones were added to the top left corner of the image.  But my favorite part and the finishing touch is the Granite Grey Vintage Seam Binding that I tied into a Windsor knot!  :)  Can you believe this was the VERY first time that I have ever tied a tie?!?!  I had to watch a YouTube video to do it!!  ROTFL!!

Peppermint Twist

I'm so excited that it's my turn to host a challenge for the Ribbon Carousel Challenge Blog!!  I have finally had the chance to use this beautiful digital image from Mo Manning called called Pammy's Stocking.  I wish so badly that I had printed the image out on Vintage Cream cardstock (PTI) rather than in white, it would have looked SO much better that way.  The papers are once again from My Mind's Eye (Lost & Found Christmas)...I love it so much that I've almost used the entire paper pad!!  :)   

The ribbon treatment was created by weaving Red Rancho Vintage Seam Binding through some gorgeous Ivory Crocheted Lace Ribbon.  I've even created a really quick video tutorial showing you how I did it.

Good Morning Everyone!!  I'm running so late today.  I didn't go to bed until after 3AM helping our Elf on the Shelf "Jolly" and his twin sister "Holly" put together a North Pole Breakfast for the kids to kick off the Christmas season!!  It turned out SO cute!!  (I promise to post pictures tomorrow)  :)

In teaching my Copic classes I had a lot of people asking me about coloring flowers.  Eeekk, I had never colored a floral image before!!  I don't even own any!!  So I decided that I had better fix that and went on a search when I found this beautiful Iris digital image from LaPashe.   Coloring this flower was crazy fun for me and I could not believe how much I loved it once it was done.  Now I'm hooked and am on the hunt for more floral images!!  :)  The image was colored twice and then popped up for dimension.

I ADORE this weeks sketch!!  It's perfect for large images and there are so many possibilities for embellishing.  I took some creative license since I kinda cheated and used the current sketch on my last card.  :)  I hope you will find some time to check out what the other Sugar Babies have done with this weeks sketch and then play along with us.

All your heart can hold

Today's the start of a new challenge at Copic Creations ...

~ Color with your BG (blue green) Copic markers ~

This week we have a new sponsor...A Day for Daisies.  They have a huge selection of digital images and I chose to use, A lap full of kittens.  I noticed that there was a lot of "open" space around the image, and  thought that would be a great place to use a sentiment.  Since I was using a digital image, I added a text box next to the image and created my own sentiment.  So easy...and you never have to worry about stamping the sentiment crooked either.  LOL  The DP is a new favorite of mine from Cosmo Cricket - Odds & Ends...lots of vintage patterns.  I stitched the paper panels and used a few little pearls that I colored to match with a red Copic marker.  Oh and I almost forgot to mention that I used this weeks Taylored Expressions (TESC144) sketch.  

I admit that this challenge was a breeze for me, I love coloring with my BG Copics...they are one of my favorite.  I used a combination of BG72, BG23, BG13, BG11, BG10 to color her dress and BG70 & BG0000 to create the shadow and outline.  Be sure to check out the other gorgeous samples that the Copic Creations DT have created.

A Wee Birthday

Good Morning!  It's Sweet Stop Sketch Saturday!!!

Earlier this week I came across Wee Stamps while in blogland and fell in LOVE with them.  I immediately bought a few of their gorgeous digi images and got to coloring right away.  This little beauty is Suzi and I just adore her sweet little face. She reminds me so much of my 2 year old Brooke, even down to her turned in little toes.  :)  

The sentiment is also a digi that I got free HERE.  And I was able to change the color of the sentiment too all thanks to my friend Jeri who sent me step by step instructions.  You're the bestest Jeri, THANK YOU!!  :)

The felt roses are a Mini Rolled Roses die from MFT, which believe it or not I let my 4 year old son Nathan make all by himself.  Not too bad huh?  He wanted to make MORE, so I cut a sheets of copier paper for him and he had a blast using every die and embossing folder Mommy has.  He even remembered the "sandwich plate" combo everytime.

Happy Birthday Daddy!

Today is my husband AND my dad's birthday!!  

Today my husband will be treated to breakfast in bed,  a Carrot Cake (his favorite) that I made from scratch and a gift I've managed to keep a secret that I think he will love!!  And to top it all off....I have a babysitter lined up for later tonight so we can go out for dinner and drinks downtown.  I'm so excited, you'd think it was MY birthday!!!  hee hee  :)

I think most of us have a tough time with making cards for the men in our lives, I know I do.  Little boys...no problem I have lots, but I don't have enough images for a grown man.  I went through my entire stamp & digi collection and didn't find anything that I could use.  Since I was pressed for time, I started doing a little digital image shopping.  That's how I found Di's Digi Downloads.  Her images are adorable and lots that are perfect "guy" images.  The one I've used here is called, Catching Zzzzz's.  The minute I saw this I knew it would make a great card for the kids to give to their daddy today.  

And since it's Saturday that also means it's another awesome sketch challenge at The Sweet Shop.

This card was so much fun to make.  I got to play with lots of my new stuff like the yummy DP from My Mind's Eye and the Stampin' Up border punch.  Once again, I used a cloud die for the sentiment, which is computer generated.  The tree tops were printed out a second time, colored, cut out, offset and popped up on foam tape for dimension.  

I actually have a picture somewhere of Nathan & Brooke sleeping with their Daddy in a hammock just like this.  :)

Happy News and Happy New Year!!!

Happy New Year Everyone!!

Yep.... this is a pre-scheduled post since I'm most likely still asleep from staying up waaay too late last night at the party we went to!!  

I've really enjoyed these last two weeks vacation with my family and they loved having my full attention.     No blogging or card making the entire time.  (Ok, I might have peeked at a few of your blogs while they were napping, but that's it, I promise.  LOL)  But now that I'm well rested;  I'm ready to get busy!!

I'm so very excited.  My favorite thing about creating cards is coloring.  I always struggle with the card designs, so this DT position will be such a blessing to me!!  Most of you are familiar with the Sweet Stop Sketch's and the Sweet and Sassy line of stamps but if not, then you MUST stop by for ton's of inspiration from the very talented DT girls.

And that's not all, but I can't say just yet!!!!

This card is also serves as my DT card for Elisabeth Bell today as well.   I've used Little Rapunzel from Elisabeth Bell's Digital Collection along with some My Mind's Eye Penny Lane DP.  The branch and flowers are actually stickers from Martha Stewart.  I don't normally "do" stickers but I had purchased them for another project and saw them and thought,  "why not?!?!"

I've made a super sweet gift card holder for a friends baby shower gift.  Isn't it the sweetest thing?!?! Well, I can't take credit.  My blogging buddy Kerri made this same gift card holder and I copied her's I loved it so much.  You can see her's HERE.  

The gift card holder is a template from Perfect Presentations, My Little Bag.  I just love the way it opens.  You could even include some little candies or other small goodies inside as well.  The brown ribbon I used for the handle has a shimmery gold thread through the satin.   It turned out to be the perfect match for this little project.  It's has such a pretty sparkle in real life.

I used Basic Grey's mini magnets to keep it closed.  (I just took the picture before I put them on)  The image is a freebie that is offered for joining Meljen's Papercraft Planet Group.  After I colored the image I cut it out and popped it up on foam dots on the embossed panel.

Elisabeth Bell's December Release & Blog Hop!

This adorable little pair is called Frosty the Snowman and they are doing what my little one's want to do sooo bad.  Play in the snow and build a snowman.  :(  My poor babies don't understand that we don't get snow in Florida.  But they sure liked swimming in the pool after Thanksgiving dinner the other week.  LOL

But, it has finally cooled down here.  I had to actually turn on the heat a few days ago because it was in the 30's when we woke up.   It's really beginning to feel like Christmas time.  It gets a little hard to be in the Christmas spirit when you're still wearing tank tops and flip flops!!  I'm loving it!!!

Good Morning!!  It's the 1st of the month (where does the time go) and that means it's my turn to share with you a creation using an image from Elisabeth Bell's Digital Collection.  

I was inspired to use Bell Horses - Li'l Cowboy after almost being run over by my three year old son last week as he was running through the house pretending to be riding a horse.  LOL  :)  At least he did yell over his shoulder, "oops 'cuse me Mommy" while riding away.  So how could I be upset about that?!?!  Even if I was, he wouldn't have heard me.  He was too busy shouting,  "Giddy up par'ner" and "Hee Yaw"!   That boy is Wicked Crazy I tell ya!!  LOL  Good thing he's so handsome.   I'm certain it's saved him from many of scouldings and will continue to do so in the future too.  (So says my husband, LOL)  

See.... Case in point....This is a picture of him last week after he charmed the Nurse into giving him a lollipop when his SISTER was there to see the Doctor.  He was just tagging along but still charmed his way into getting a treat too!!  LOL :)
