Hey, Ghoulfriend!

Have you played along yet with this month's Ribbon Carousel Challenge?!
Our challenges are now monthly challenges with a big 'ol prize at the end for one lucky challenge participant....a ribbon carousel!!

This months theme is Halloween Spirit!!

For my card, I started by pulling out all of my halloween goodies and just using what "spoke" to me.   I {heart} creating with halloween papers and embellishments and kick myself each year for not doing more spooky/fun cards and projects.

The designer papers are from My Mind's Eye (Lost & Found Halloween)...I LOVE these papers!!  The spiderweb die is from Cheery Lynn Designs and the canvas fringe I picked up at Hobby Lobby.  I then used my Janome Sew Mini and machine stitched the image and paper panels.  A Jolee's white resin pumpkin sticker sits atop a bit of Black Cotton Twill from the Ribbon Carousel cut into a fishtail.  For the last month I have been dying (pun intended) to color this image from Saturated Canary - Zombie Niamh and she did not disappoint....I even used a bunch of Copics colors that have been sadly neglected.

Celebrating Summer

This week our wild and crazy Ribbon Carousel Crewmate Jenny Peterson is serving us up with a dose of crafty inspiration.  She is challenging us to make a card with a SUMMER theme!

Ahhh Summer!  It's the time to enjoying long days of warm sunshine, no school, family vacations, toes in the sand and dips in the pool.  Here in the Ramlakhan household, those carefree days are quickly coming to an end...only one more week before school starts!!

With Summer as inspiration for this weeks challenge it was the perfect excuse for me to use Saturated Canary's, Cali Girl image.  I kept the card design simple, with a card base of Bazzill's Marshmallow cardstock and Fancy Pants (Beach Babe) designer paper.  I embellished with a little loop of Parrot Green grosgrain ribbon along with some Prima paper flowers from my stash and added a K&Company road sign metal brad in the center.  The (real) starfish was attached with a dot of hot glue and I used the  Perfect Layers tool to achieve the perfectly straight and spaced layers on my card.

Laters, Baby!

When Saturated Canary release this Grey Tie image last week, I could not WAIT to sit down and color her up!!  It turned out to be a perfect image to use with this weeks Anything Goes theme for Dude Time Challenges which the Ribbon Carousel is sponsoring.

Since this is for a guy (my husband, to be exact) I wanted to keep the layout and embellishments simple.  The layout I used is this weeks Sweet Sunday Sketch 163.  I started with a Rock Candy cardstock base and accented it with a layer of Icy Mint cardstock.  The designer papers are from My Mind's Eye (Portobello Road).  The sentiment was computer generated using the Noteworthy font and My Favorite Things Mini Tag Dia-namic.  A few silver/grey rhinestones were added to the top left corner of the image.  But my favorite part and the finishing touch is the Granite Grey Vintage Seam Binding that I tied into a Windsor knot!  :)  Can you believe this was the VERY first time that I have ever tied a tie?!?!  I had to watch a YouTube video to do it!!  ROTFL!!

You Make Me Smile

Happy Saturday Peeps!!

I've recently stepped down as a Design Team member from Tiddly Inks and you may soon notice fewer blog posts from me.  Nothing's going on....just making more time for these little people who call me Mommy.  :)  And as a result I also hope to have more time to play with some images I've not had the opportunity to use yet such as this beauty...Ratatouille from Saturated Canary.  I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun this was to color!!  Everything from the hair, facial features and clothing are a colorist dream come true!!  (Let's not discuss just how many of these images made it into my shopping cart, okay?!?! ) Make sure you check out Krista Smith's Blog and Store...not only is she crazy talented but she is an incredibly sweet person too.

I wanted to give my card a very girly and femine look so I used papers from My Mind's Eye Quite Contrary Collection (Little Miss Muffet) and machine stitched the paper panels.  Some beautiful White Scalloped Crocheted Lace and a Pearl Stick Pin from the Ribbon Carousel in a tulle flower complete the look.

And once, again all month long at the Sweet Stop Sketch we are using previous sketches to celebrate our 3 Year Anniversary. My layout today is using this sketch.

I hope you will find some time to check out the sketches used by the other Sugar Babies this week and then play along with us.
