For You (RCC38)

This is my second post for the day...scroll down or click HERE to see my Tiddly Inks creation.

My fellow Ribbon Carousel design team member, Kim O'Connell is a fabulous artist with tons of techniques up her sleeve.  She also has a wicked funny sense of humor that keeps us all in stitches.  So this week, Kim is challenging us to use the paper-piecing technique somewhere on our creations.

And who would be a great sponsor for this challenge?  Why, Birdie Brown of course!!

Hello everyone! My name is Torico, the owner of Birdie Brown, and you may know me as an illustrator for There She Goes Clear Stamps. I'm a mom to two kids who live in Japan. I've loved doodling since I was a child, and have a passion for card making now! At my Etsy shop, Birdie Brown, I'm offering whimsical and cute (Japanese "kawaii") digital stamps created from my original illustrations. Speaking about card making, I love "simple & cute" design. So, most of my digital stamps are designed to match such a style. If you also like "simple & cute" style, you'll find something you have been wanting on Birdie Brown!!

Torico generously provided me with, Girl with a Rose for me to design with this week.  I paper pieced the flower and layered the tag with papers from My Mind's Eye (Market Street).  The Spellbinder Lacey Circle as well as the image itself are popped up with foam tape for dimension.  The tiny half pearls were colored with a G00 Copic marker to match the papers.  I used a combination of Brown/White Grosgrain Two Toned Ribbon and crinkled Leather Tan Vintage Seam Binding from the Ribbon Carousel looped through the tag.   The Ribbon Carousel is now carrying these gorgeous Pewter Pearl and Rhinestone Pins.

Hopefully my creation has inspired to you play along with us this week at the Ribbon Carousel Challenge Blogwhere one lucky participant will win 3 FREE dig's of their choice from the Birdie Brown store.   Your creation can be anything you'd like, just be sure you use ribbon, bakers twine, lace, thread...(anything that comes on a spool) and follow this weeks theme.

Be Mine....or Else!!

It's a new Tiddly Ink's Challenge...
~ Valentines ~

I decided to create a Valentine with a bit of an attitude using Tiddly Inks, Whatever!   I have a similar pose (crossed arms and tilted head) when my husband is not doing something my way!!  LOL   I bet lots of you do too, right?!?!  :)

The papers are My Mind's Eye, Union Square (I promise I do have other paper pads, LOL).  I used a crimper tool that I had completely forgotten I had, for a fun corragated cardboard look.  I tied the ends of some Black Crocheted Lace from the Ribbon Carousel in knots and frayed the ends.  The heart was created with Spellbinders Scalloped and Classic heart dies and popped up with foam tape for dimension.  The sentiment is believe it or not...handwritten.  And a few black rhinestone hearts that I thought I'd NEVER use make it complete.  :)

I hope you will stop by the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog where the Design Team has created fabulous cards and projects that are sure to inspire you!!  And it's always a good idea to check out Christy's Blog too...as you never know what fun little surprises you might find there.

Be sure to stop back again later today to see my card for the Ribbon Carousel Challenge!

Arrgh Matey!

Nathan had a blast during his 5th Birthday Party yesterday and somehow I managed NOT to cry even once about my baby growing up so fast.  My dad really came through for me and helped me get a huge refrigerator box (stores won't give them to you anymore) that I morphed into a pirate ship that Nathan named, "The Dirty Barnacle".  LOL   My dad also brought over 2 HUGE 6 foot parrots and a ships wheel that I was able to use for props.  Yay Dad!!!  xoxo

The kids all "Walked the Plank", dug for buried treasure and had sword fights with anyone who walked by!!  Everyone enjoyed Shipwreck Sandwiches, "Kracken's Water" (Captain Nathan's Special Blend) and other party foods to make any pirate happy.  I have a friend who makes the BEST cakes....every year she blows me with her mad decorating skills!!

I've created a little slideshow with some of my favorite photos from the party.  I hope you enjoy them!!

New Wings (SSS143)

Morning Peeps!!
It's going to be a short and sweet post...I've got a very busy day ahead of me.
Nathan's 5th Birthday party this afternoon and a Monster Truck show later tonight.

I tried so hard for a soft/pastel coloring approach with Tiddly Ink's newest sweetheart...
Wryn - New Wings, but in the end I just couldn't do it!!  LOL  I used some gorgeous girly/vintage papers from My Mind's Eye (Market Street) and added a little machine stitching.  It turned out to be a hot mess, but my husband said it added to the Shabby Chic look....works for me!!  LOL

I hope you will find some time to check out what the other Sugar Babies have done with this weeks sketch and then play along with us.

My Treasure

Next weekend my baby is turning Five!  FIVE!!!
(okay.....let's not talk about how fast the time has gone by or else I'll just start crying)

Nathan chose a Pirate party theme for his Fifth Birthday and we have had so much fun planning his party together.  We created his invitations to look like old treasure maps, burned the edges, rolled them up, sealed them with melted wax and mailed them in bottles. They turned out AMAZING!! :)

Such a special birthday calls for a very special card and I have to tell you that I LOVE the way this came out!!  Awhile back I found four of the cuuuutest pirate stamps from Nellie Snellen.  I couldn't decide which of the images I liked best so I bought them ALL!!  LOL  The image I've used on my card is called Treasure and is Nathan's favorite.  :)  I distressed and inked some fabulous Echo Park paper (Times & Season) for that old treasure map look, but the finished touch turned out to be the yummy Burgundy/Ivory Striped Grosgrain Ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel that I tied into a simple knot and frayed the edges.  LOVE IT!!!  xoxo

This weeks sketch has a spin....non-traditional Valentines.  I think this card also makes a PERFECT valentine!  I hope you will find some time to check out what the other Sugar Babies have done with this weeks sketch and then play along with us.

XOXO

This is my second post of the day....scroll down or click HERE to see my Tiddly Ink's Color Challenge!!

With the holiday's over the Ribbon Carousel is back in the full swing of things and we're ready with this week's challenge... Danielle's "Go To" sketch.

It's a fabulous sketch to use with images from this weeks sponsor, Some Odd Girl.

Here's my card using Some Odd Girl's Tiny Bubbles Tia which is an adorable digital image that was generously provided to me by Kristy.

I did a little machine stitching along the back panel of designer papers from My Mind's Eye (Love Me ) and used some gorgeous Rubytone Vintage Seam Binding and my last small scrap of Ivory Crocheted Ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel.

Hopefully my take on Danielle's sketch has inspired to you play along with us this week at the Ribbon Carousel, where one lucky participant will win 3 FREE dig's of their choice from the Some Odd Girl store.   Your creation can be anything you'd like, just be sure you use ribbon, bakers twine, lace, thread...(anything that comes on a spool) and follow this weeks theme.

Out of this World

It's time for a new Tiddly Inks Challenge and this time it's a color challenge...
~ Green, Yellow, Orange, Blue ~

I created a card for the kids to give to their Grandpa for his birthday using the adorable Tiddly Inks digital image, Come In Cuteness.  I used a Cuttlebug Embossing folder (Spots & Dots) to create the "moon" and a Martha Stewart zig zag border punch above a computer generated sentiment.  I created different levels of dimension by applying foam tape to the Spellbinder Stars, image, and "moon" panel.   My Mind's Eye Lime Twist paper collection (Fly a Kite) turned out to have the perfect colors needed for this weeks color challenge.

I hope you will stop by the Tiddly Inks Challenge Blog where the Design Team has created fabulous cards and projects that are sure to inspire you!!  And it's always a good idea to check out Christy's Blog too....as you never know what fun little surprises you might find on her blog.

Sweet Stop Sketch 141

Happy Saturday Everyone!!
I'm teaching a class at Stamp & Scrap A'Latte in Spring Hill, Florida today and we will be coloring this sweet Whipper Snapper Designs image, Hugs for Ike.  I'm using this adorable duo as an example on  how you can use your Copics to color black and white with high contrast.

I've used papers from Echo Park (Yours Truly) and popped the image panel up with foam tape for dimension. A touch of Star Dust Stickles was added to give the snow some sparkle.  Using a banner die for the sentiment and a scrumptious strip of Silver Pleated Satin Ribbon from the Ribbon Carousel turned out to be fabulous elements to complete this weeks sketch from The Sweet Stop.

I hope you will find some time to check out what the other Sugar Babies have done with this weeks sketch and then play along with us.

Tiddly Inks Blog Hop...how to play along!

Bog Hop Instructions---How to Play along on January 13

So I thought I would spell out exactly how to join in the blog hop on January 13 because we would love to have you play along...

Theme: Friends are the Flowers of Life: Use any Tiddly Inks digital image to create a card or project and participate in the blog hop

How to Participate:
This is actually a 4-step process:

One, you have to make the card in advance using a Tiddly Inks image, preferably with friends or flowers as the theme, but it is open to any TI image.  Just have fun! :)

Two, post your photo and information on your own personal blog on January 13 before 12 PM CST--and at least by 5:45 PM CST---so you can meet the 6-hour window to enter the blog hop. The title of your post should be "Friends are the Flowers of Life - Tiddly Inks Blog Hop".

Three, once your blog post is live, visit the Tiddly Inks challenge blog (our enrollment list will be open for 6 hours--see times below) and link your blog hop post at the bottom of the "Flowers" Blog Hop post (there will be an Inlinkz list) in order to be qualified for the prizes. There is no need to sign up in advance---just have a post ready to link.

Four, the enrollment time will close at 6:00 PM (and hopefully we have about 30 to 40 people who linked) and then we hop around and view their cards---and your card---from the list on the Tiddly Inks challenge blog. Sounds like fun, right? Last time we had a hundred-plus people coming around and commenting and it was fun!! :)

Dates:
6:00 PM CST on Friday January 13 to 6:00 PM CST on Saturday January 14

The blog hop will run until January 14 at 6:00 PM. We will have a wrap-up "party" on January 14 in the Tiddly Inks PCP group from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM CST. Stop in and chat with us in the comment section at the bottom of the page. Between 6 PM and 10 PM CST, one lucky PCP commenter will be randomly selected to receive the next 2 Tiddly Inks stamps before anyone else (free of charge).

Prizes: Two blogger participants selected from the Tiddly Inks Inlinkz list will be announced on January 15 and highlighted on the TI challenge blog. Each will receive a $10 gift voucher.

There will also be random prizes throughout the DT blogs, so be sure to comment and visit each one. :)

Hope you can play along with us!!

You Rock 40!

The Sugar Babies are back after our Christmas break with a new sketch for you today.  Korin always creates the most fabulous sketches and this weeks is REALLY fun!!  It has film strip kind of vibe going on, which challenged me a bit until I decided to rotate it and then it all fell into place!!  :)

The Kenny K Groove Dude digital image was printed on PaperTreyVintage Cream cardstock and colored with Copics.  I colored this image one afternoon when I needed a distraction...I was so into the coloring that I didn't realize that I was practically sitting in the dark the whole time.  It's hard to tell from the photo but there is a strip of Navy Vintage Seam Binding above the notebook edge border.  The paper's I used were some older 12x12 scrapbook papers from my stash.  The ticket is also a digital image (I think from Raindrop Echo Designs) and printed on the same scrapbook paper.  I used my new number dies from My Favorite Things along with some Tim Holtz metal gear and sprocket embellishments.

This is the birthday card I've created for my amazing husbands 40th birthday.  He is truly the greatest guy I know.  He's not only handsome, but a fantastic Father and husband...I LOVE him so much!!  He treated me to a weekend in New York on my 40th so I'm treating him to a weekend in VEGAS for his!!  (Which kind of feels like a gift to myself too....but hey, who's complaining!)!  LOL

Copic's Used:
Skin: E15, E13, E11, E00, E50
Hair: C7, C5, C3, C1
Jewelry/Guitar: B99, B97, B95, B91, BV000
Shirt: E42, E41, Y26, YR24, YR23, Y21
Pants/Shoes: E49, E29, E25, E35, E31, YR31, W3
Outline/Shadow: W3, W1, W00, BG70

I hope you will find some time to check out what the other Sugar Babies have done with this weeks sketch and then play along with us.

Happy Birthday Daddy

YAY!!!  I can finally share with everyone that Christy Croll has invited me to join her design team at Tiddly Inks!! What a fun way to start 2012!!

With my card today I've combined Tiddly Ink's and Ribbon Carousel challenges together.
The Ribbon Carousel is back after a well deserved break with our families with a Anything Goes Challenge with Unity Stamps as our sponsor.
AND
And just wait until you see the sweet new images that Tiddly Inks is releasing today....Wryn and Friends.  And to celebrate....we would like to see you create any card or project that CELEBRATES any occasion.

January officically kicks off "Birthday Season" in my family with 5 male birthday's; and the parties don't stop until the end of Spring!!  LOL  So needless to say I will have LOTS of birthday cards to show you in the coming weeks. Tiddly Inks has so many adorable digital images that I couldnt decided what to design with first, so I let  Nathan & Brooke choose an image for their Daddy's birthday card.  They chose Whaz's Up Dog.   That adorable little pup looks a little surprised to find himself up in the air doesn't he?  :)  Brooke even pointed out that I could use the new paw print border punch she gave me for Christmas on this card!!  How sweet is THAT?!?! :)  :)

The papers I used are from a neglected paper pad from Cosmo Cricket (Togetherness).  Using a cloud die from MFT's turned out to be a faboulous way to add my computer generated sentiment.  I tied some Ivory Vintage Seam Binding from the Ribbon Carousel in a knot and put a little button in the center.

Thanks so much for stopping by!!
