Beary Special

My calendar tells me its now Fall. however the sweltering heat here in sunny Florida says otherwise.  The kids and I tried to play outside for a bit yesterday, but with temps being 98+ we decided to just eat popsicles and jump in the pool instead.  I cannot wait for some cooler weather to come along.

My calendar also tells me that it's time for another Copic Creations Challenge and this time the challenge is Saturated Colors.  Color saturation refers to how vivid and intense a color is...easy peasy for me since I'm so heavy handed with my Copic coloring.  :)

This sweet image, Beary Big Hugs is from our fabulous sponsor Belles 'n Whistles I've used DP from Cosmo Cricket (Odds & Ends) which has lots of machine stitched on all of the paper panels.  The lace was a gift from my sweet friend Chris, which I've been hoarding for a while now.  (We all do that right?!?!)  The pearls were colored with my BG18 Copic to match the cardstock and a touch of Shimmerz (Pixie Dust) was added to her headband and bow with a small paintbrush.

The sentiment was computer generated using Garton Font, which I then cut out with Spellbinders Label Eight.  Broken China distressing ink was applied while the sentiment was still in the die with a stippling brush rather than a sponge dauber.  I could never really get the hang of sponging and have ruined many images/sentiments. I had given up altogether when Shannon introduced me to using a brush instead!!  What a huge difference, I've found that the brush gives me better control of the ink coverage.

Please stop by the Copic Creations Challenge Blog for prize details and the gorgeous DT samples.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!!

Great coloring Wendy! I had a couple of friends suggest a stippling brush to me also so will definitely have to give it a try.

Can I come to visit you?!! I'm FROZEN - even with my layers and slippers, mug of hot chocolate, etc. I reluctantly (only because it's so early in the season) turned on our furnace today!
What a sweet card, Wendy! I'm so glad you found a technique that works for you. That said, I'm always SO impressed with your work! Love that lace, too!

I too prefer a brush to sponging though I will sponge daub the very very edge of a card. Love the colouring of that bear & the way your striped paper panel picks up on her hair band. The lace picks up the braiding in her hair too & I love the way those roses are splashes of red in the same way that the bear's bow tie is - if that makes sense.
