Sweet Stampin' - For a Teen

It's my second week as Guest Designer at Sweet Stampin' and this weeks challenge is to
 ~ create a card for a Teen ~

My nephew Tyler immediately came to mind so I made this card for him.
My little sister is my best friend so I'm naturally very close to my niece and nephews.  They were my practice kids before I had my own.  :)  Her kids are all teens now and mine are just toddlers but they mutally worship the ground they walk on. We have always spent holidays, special occasions and those hey, let's go to the beach days together.  We spend last weekend together as a family just hanging out and enjoying each others company.  It would be the last weekend that our family would be completely together for a very long time...Tyler shipped out for Marine bootcamp last Sunday.

I'm going to miss him so much  I miss him so much.  I am so very proud of him, but I'm having a hard time coming to grips with the fact that he's a grown up already with plans all his own.  The world is a dangerous place and he'll be going out there protecting Me...it seems like I should be out there protecting HIM.  I've never seen my sister so sad, and it's hard for me to watch her heartbreak as she said goodbye to her son.  But on a happier note, yesterday my sister received her 1st letter from him and she called to read it to me right away!!  :)  He's doing great!  :)

I've used the sketch as the optional portion of this weeks challenge at Sweet Stampin'.  The image is Journey from The Greeting Farm and the DP is My Mind's Eye (Lost & Found - Portabello Road).

I'll have my Sweet Stop Sketch post later this morning...I hope you'll stop back by later.

I love your colours on this & that gorgeous shading of his cap & the trouseers. Those who serve in the forces are very special - we have a barracks close by & I often see the young men about town. The surrounding Welsh mountains provide an ideal military training ground as does the local air space.
