Hip to be SQUARE!

This is my 2nd Post today...scroll down for my YNS Challenge Project.

Did everyone have a nice Valentines Day?  I did.  Nathan and Brooke were excited to wake up to see what awaited them in their little mailboxes.  They had a little stuffed animal, a heart shaped candy box, stickers and a wooden frame to color.  They both immediately wanted to color their frames at Mommy's table.  So we all sat down to color together.  The frames came with the tiniest little markers and Nathan (who just turned 4) took his coloring VERY seriously.  LOL  He took his time (almost an hour) and colored the whole thing, trying so hard to stay in the lines.  Brooke just did a few scribbles and called it good!!  :)

I told them that I would put a picture of their frames on my blog so everyone could see them  :)

Later that evening, my Sweetheart surprised me by coming home with a bouquet of flowers for all his girls.  Little Brookie's bouquet was almost as big as her!! (Nathan cried because he didn't get flowers, LOL - so I had to give him one of my mine to put into his own vase!)  Then Daddy and Nathan got to work in the kitchen and on the grill and treated us to steak and scallops for dinner...sooo YUMMY!!  My husband is seriously the BEST cook ever!!   It was a wonderfully sweet evening at home.

Well, are you ready for a new 7 Kids College Fund Challenge?
This time it's....
Hip to be Square ~
(Let's see all those square cards)

I've been keeping my promise to ink up stamps that haven't be used yet.  This darling duo is The Greeting Farms, Buddies.  This will be my nephews birthday card who will be 13 in a few weeks.  Looking at it now I wish I would have added a sentiment..."Happy Birthday, Buddy".  (I still have time, I think I will.)  This being a card for a boy I kept my embellishments down to a minium and decided to I to played around with my sewing machine to give the card more texture and interest.  My sewing machine started acting up (operator error I assure you) so rather than risk ruining my main image I just pierced holes.  His hat is paper pieced and then shaded with Copics BG72 & BG11.  By the way, I didn't have any orange ribbon, so I used my YR16 and colored a cream grosgrain ribbon to match.

I hope you can join us for this challenge, after all it's an easy one and lasts for the next two weeks.  You can find gorgeous samples from the Design Team and all the deets at the 7 Kids College Fund challenge blog.

Love the colours on your card & that paper piecing is so effective - as is the stitching. Love the sahding on the little dog too & this is just such a lovely card for a young teenage boy - really homely: so nice to see something boyish & apt rather than way out! I'm just old fashioned! Which is why it's so glorious to have a husband like yours & the little ones have really joined in. It will be interesting to see what direction Nathan takes.
